Last night, I had an amazing time meeting some fellow DC design bloggers (more on that later) and one of the topics we discussed is where we source our images from. I admitted that I felt repetitive posting pictures from recent American mags, and was hoping to find some new international sources.
Well, its been less than 24 hours since I promised myself I would break that habit but I just
had to post about this apartment decorated by Miles Redd featured in July's
House Beautiful. Obsessed just isn't a strong enough word. The herringbone floors, rich jewel tones and witty details add up to a majorly sophisticated apartment.
I am so in love with this little jewel box of a kitchen. It is so vibrant and completely different from the granite countertop, stainless steel, big island suburban kitchens that have become ubiquitous. This is such an inspiration for my depressing, black hole galley kitchen.

Miles Redd is pretty much the Lebron James of color combos. Flawless.
You'd think putting a desk next to a sofa would look crowded and awkward, but this looks really chic and cozy. Goes to show that a great sense of scale and the ability to edit opens up endless furniture arrangement possibilities.
Confession: I secretly wish I drank enough to justify a bar tray. It's very Mad Men, right?
I always try to avoid posting pics from recent magazine issues, but I don't think I'm going to be able to help myself this month. The most recent House Beautiful and Elle Decor were amazing. Case in point, this office in the beach house of Harriett Maxwell MacDonald and Andrew Corrie. Perfection.
As summer officially comes to a close, I'm more in the mood for simple, light-filled interiors then ever. I think designer Victoria Pearson's Ojai home perfectly fits the bill. Carefully edited, uncluttered and filled with earthy woods and layers of white, it seems like the perfect place to watch the sun set as days grow shorter.
Love the retro vibe in the kitchen. Its also a great example of how an older kitchen can be updated without a complete overhaul.
I think my favorite part of this house is without a doubt the bathroom. Love how the chaise and chandelier luxe it up a bit, without overpowering the earnest country vibe.

I love the idea of blocking off an entrance with a shapely sofa and antiqued mirror to avoid a cold "subway-car" effect, and how great is the sunburst mirror that appears to float over the couch?
